“Domestic violence and abuse is unacceptable and tackling the issue is a priority for the government” Home Office 2015

“Right now, 100,000 people in England and Wales are at risk of being seriously hurt or murdered by their partner. And they’re not the only ones at risk – 130,000 children live with this abuse too. SafeLives thinks victims at the greatest risk of death or serious harm should get the fastest help… over 60% of victims who get help from Idvas and Maracs tell us that the abuse stops… In 2014, more than 74,052 cases, involving 93,759 children, were discussed at Maracs across the UK.” SafeLives 2015

“Domestic violence and abuse is a complex issue that needs sensitive handling by a range of health and social care professionals. The cost, in both human and economic terms, is so significant that even marginally effective interventions are cost effective.” NICE February 2014

National updates and in depth case studies will focus on Early Identifying domestic violence high risk victims and preventing repeat victimisation, Working in partnership with the police to support high risk victims of domestic abuse, Supporting high-risk victims of domestic violence: Improving the effectiveness of Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences and Information Sharing and Information Governance within MARACs and Domestic Violence cases.  This conference is aimed at all members of the multi agency team.
