This one day clinical audit masterclass will provide you with a full understanding of why clinical audit is important to  organisations, teams and individuals (e.g. helping to meet your revalidation requirements).

Short activities will help you understand how clinical audit relates to research, service evaluation and other current quality improvement techniques.

“Clinical audit, provides intelligence on which to evidence the success of health and care services, and track the differences that improvement activities make.
“The work of clinical audit teams is essential, both as drivers of improvement in their own organisations and in terms of their contribution to the national audit data collection that allows appropriate scrutiny of our health and social care system.
"Audit ensures that those who deliver services can see when they’re doing well and where the focus of improvement activity should be; and they give patients and the public reassurance when making choices about their health care. There’s no doubt that clinical audit teams are among the unsung heroes of the health sector.”

Jane Ingham, Chief Executive of Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP)

Thereafter the main part of the day focuses  on a step-by-step guide to undertaking an effective clinical audit project that will make a difference locally. You will also be able to look at real life clinical audit projects, giving you the opportunity to see first hand what makes a good clinical audit report. The day will help you to identify and overcome the barriers and resistance to clinical audit and culminates with a look at what will be coming next for clinical audit in future years.

This is a Level 3 accredited course and all learners are eligible to gain a clinical audit qualification on the successful completion of a short written assignment. Many clinical audit professionals hold this certification.

Facilitated by Stephen Ashmore and Tracy Ruthven, Directors of the Centre for Clinical Audit Support who collectively have over 40 years experience working in clinical audit. Stephen and Tracy will provide you with a highly interactive and practical day and will encourage you to share your personal experiences of audit to ensure you again a clear understanding of how excellent clinical audit will benefit your organisation.
