Healthcare Conferences UK in association with Christopher Fincken, Independent Member UK Caldicott Guardian Council, (Former Chairman) are pleased to announce the National Virtual Caldicott Guardian Leadership Summit 2021. Following the success of our previous Caldicott Guardian National Conferences, and feedback from our regular Caldicott Training Masterclasses, this conference will focus on developing your role as a Caldicott Guardian and developing your skills in leading the Caldicott function in your organization.

The virtual event will update delegates on the new Caldicott Principle, and an extended case study based session will work with you to understand Caldicott Decision Making and apply the National Information/Data Sharing Decision Template in practice.

“Even after 23 years since its inception, the Caldicott Principles and Caldicott Guardians (22,000 of them) were still considered valuable and useful today… the Caldicott Principles are an invaluable resource that can provide staff with a common sense approach. Playing an important part in embedding these principles into the work of their organisatons, Caldicott Guardians are often referred to as the conscience of their organisation. They have a deep understanding of how health and care data is different to other data, because in many cases they are clinicians and care providers themselves, and therefore are advocates for patients and service users. ”

“COVID-19 has revealed how powerful access to the right information at the right time is.”

NHSX 15th January 2021

“The NDG concluded that she should introduce a new Caldicott Principle, which makes clear that patient and service user expectations must be considered and informed when confidential information is used…. We have concluded that there is strong support for the continued use of the Caldicott Principles, and for the creation of an additional principle to emphasise the importance of there being no surprises for patients and service users with regard to how their confidential information is used.”
