This is a Free virtual mini conference, 10.00 to 12.45

We are delighted to announce details of Clinical Auditorium number 6, a joint initiative between Healthcare Conferences UK (HCUK) and the Clinical Audit Support Centre (CASC). Clinical Auditorium provides clinical audit and quality improvement professionals with a safe space to meet, collaborate and learn about key issues that are relevant to their day-to-day work.

This time we will be looking inwardly and in effect undertaking an audit of clinical audit staff practices. While clinical audit constantly examines whether healthcare professionals and teams are meeting agreed practice and following best practice, the clinical audit community rarely takes time out to reflect on their own work and initiatives. The reality is that since the introduction of medical audit in 1989, very little analysis has been carried out to assess the impact of clinical audit. Fifteen years ago, the clear message coming from national leaders was that clinical audit at both local and national levels needed to be reinvigorated. There has been little open discussion and even less data provided to establish if that core aim as set out by NHS leaders has been achieved.

It gives us huge pleasure to announce that for this mini conference we will be joined by Nancy Dixon from Healthcare Quality Quest. Nancy is a clinical audit and QI expert with huge experience working on meaningful projects across the world. Nancy will provide a laser-like assessment examining the triumphs and missed opportunities of clinical audit over the last four decades. The CASC Directors will join Nancy in giving their perspectives on the highs and lows of clinical audit. We will examine successes, failures and consider what standards we can apply to assess if our work is meeting expectations. The session will be highly interactive with those attending given lots of opportunities to share their thoughts. We will also be running lots of polls to help gain hard data that will help us understand where clinical audit is in 2023.

Job Satisfaction Survey Results
As part of the Clinical Auditorium event on 13 January 2022 the Clinical Audit Support Centre facilitated a short pre-event survey asking questions to those who had registered for the event about a variety of issues relating to job satisfaction. This is the first such survey that we are aware of and this short report aims to share all feedback received.

The data and information will be interesting to those professionals who attended the session and those who work within the clinical audit and quality improvement arena. This is embryonic work and we would  appreciate any further feedback to help clinical audit and quality improvement colleagues to understand how people working in the profession currently feel about their jobs and the work they undertake.
