This virtual conference focuses on the important issue of effective person centred practice in CPR decisions and communication.

“If we are to ensure that end-of-life care is truly person-centred – and lawful – then we cannot shy away from having important DNACPR conversations as early as possible in a timely, open and sensitive way. The lessons learnt from coronavirus can and should be seen as a catalyst to forge a more compassionate, personalised approach to CPR decision-making and advance care planning”

Compassion in Dying

“A new report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has found worrying variation in people’s experiences of do not attempt cardiopulmonary resuscitation (DNACPR) decisions during the pandemic. While there were some examples of good practice, CQC also heard from people who were not properly involved in decisions, or were unaware that such an important decision about their care had been made.”

“Patients must always be at the centre of their care. Including advance care planning and DNACPR decisions. Everyone needs to have access to personalised support around DNACPR decisions… We continue to seek assurance that patients are at the centre of personalised, high-quality and safe experiences of DNACPR decisions, that protect their human rights.”
