This Conference is now Closed

Follow updates for this conference on Twitter #electiverecovery

This conference focuses on elective surgical caseload and post recovery. The challenge of current waiting lists for elective procedures is clear, the conference will discuss practical strategies and solutions for meeting demand and ensuring safety post Covid-19 including creating clear accountability for elective recovery and improving productivity. We will discuss new models for delivering increased activity including supporting trusts and clinical teams to work together across Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) to eliminate variation and embed recognised best practice, patient scheduling and prioritisation, optimising theatre utilisation and performance and developing the role of the independent sector.

“The pandemic has had a significant impact on the delivery of elective care and, as a result, on the lives of many patients who are waiting for treatment. We need to be ambitious and plan to recover towards previous levels of activity and beyond where possible over the next few years.”

NHS England March 2021

“Systems are asked to recover elective activity in a way that takes full advantage of elective high-impact changes and transformation opportunities, and demonstrates learning from other systems”

NHS England March 2021

“The COVID crisis has shone a light on the weakness’s we knew were already there; the ‘Winter Pressures’ we should learn and change. We need to see that elective surgery is protected from being shut down on a regular basis due to capacity issues in other areas of the NHS.”
