Working with the media can be a great opportunity to get your message across to a wide audience: your staff, patients, payers and critics. But you often only have one chance to do this so it’s important to get it right.

This masterclass looks at all aspects of the media world - print, broadcast and social media and explains how it works and how you can best work with journalists. Media training is important for any person who deals with the media: It helps to clarify key messaging and to give you the skills to successfully take part in an interview, and use the media coverage for your advantage.

Although you may be an expert in your organisation or role, it’s important you know the skills to effectively communicate your knowledge to the media and public. So, media training can help teach you what to expect from the media, understand journalists needs and how to avoid difficult questions aiming to get you to reveal something you weren’t planning to talk about.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding of how the media works, its needs and demands
  • The importance of preparation before an interview
  • The importance of researching and understanding the news outlet requesting an interview
  • Why you should have three key messages
  • The importance of repetitions
  • The Elevator Pitch - ensuring you understand the importance of brevity and summaries

This masterclass is for anyone wanting to feel confident dealing with the media, and to improve their communication skills.
