This national conference aims to bring together leaders of outpatient services to focus on improvement and the delivery of outstanding outpatient care and experience. The conference opens with National Developments followed by case studies focusing on improving quality, efficiency and meeting the Care Quality Commission Quality Ratings in outpatients. The conference continues with an extended in depth masterclass which will contact interactive group work focusing on Improving, capacity, access, patient flow and waiting times in outpatient services. Further sessions will focus on improving patient experience, improving outcomes in outpatient services, developing and implementing core standards and the developing role of virtual outpatient clinics in reducing pressure on outpatient services.

The NHS Long Term Plan, published in February 2019 states that: "Outpatient services will be fundamentally redesigned… hospital outpatient visits have nearly doubled over the past decade from 54 to 94 million, at a cost of £8 billion a year......Outpatients traditionally serve at least three purposes, and in each case there are opportunities for redesign. An outpatient appointment can provide: advice and diagnosis for a patient and their GP; follow-up review after a hospital procedure; and ongoing specialist input into a long-term condition. Technology means an outpatient appointment is often no longer the fastest or most accurate way of providing specialist advice on diagnosis or ongoing patient care. The Royal College of Physicians has rightly argued that outpatients needs a radical overhaul”

“The NHS Long Term Plan commits to reducing face-to-face outpatient appointments by up to a third over the next five years. This will be a game-changer for many patients. Far less need to struggle with public transport, road congestion, or parking; to arrange for time off work or to be accompanied by a relative or friend; or to travel for hours just to have a brief exchange in an outpatient clinic and little time for questions. Transforming the approach will not just save patients time and money, it will allow staff to work in the most efficient and satisfying way, reduce pollution from road travel, and save the NHS more than £1 billion a year.”

De Vere West One is located on Portland Street and is a 10 minute walk for Great Portland Street Underground station and a 5 minute walk from Oxford Circus
By Rail
De Vere West One is just a five minutes’ walk from Oxford Circus tube (Central, Victoria, and Bakerloo), Bond street (Jubilee) and a 10 minute walk from Great Portland Street tube (Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan) and Marylebone station.
By Road
Portland Place is just north of Oxford Circus. The nearest NCP car park is approximately 300 yards away. Follow the A4201 past De Vere West One taking the second left turning onto Weymouth Street, then take the second left onto Weymouth Mews.
