“Quality has improved overall, but there is too much variation and some services have deteriorated” Care Quality Commission

“This sets the context for our inspections of England’s 10 ambulance trusts. Across these trusts, we found that the quality of care has not changed since last year and remains variable.” Care Quality Commission State of Health and Social Care 2018

Bringing together ambulance service clinicians and managers leading on quality improvement this conference includes an opening address from the first Ambulance Service in the UK to receive an outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission.  The CPD certified national conference will focus on improving the quality of ambulance services and meeting and measuring  progress against the CQC Quality Ratings. The conference will help you to understand current issues and the national context, and provide you with an opportunity to debate and discuss key issues and areas you may be facing in practice in meeting the CQC Quality Ratings in ambulance services. Through case studies from organisations that have been rated outstanding and extended interactive sessions the event will support you to both measure, monitor and meet the standards, and develop the leadership skills and culture to ensure continuous quality improvement.

The conference concludes with a case study focusing on improving quality in the independent ambulance sector which is under increasing scrutiny from the Care Quality Commission:

“We have found problems with the safety of the healthcare provided to people who use independent ambulance services. In these instances we have taken appropriate enforcement action against the providers to protect the people under their care. However, we are concerned that these might not be isolated findings. We will therefore pay particular attention to these issues at all future inspections and urge you to consider any actions you may need to take to address these issues in your service." Care Quality Commission
