Adult Safeguarding Practice: What does good look like?

As our NHS moves to contextual safeguarding, the national and regional safeguarding teams have been deep listening to hear the voice of victims and survivors of the various safeguarding programs cover by the NHS. Kenny will discuss the outcomes of this deep-listening with the advent of ~

  • Trauma Informed Care 
  • Think Families 
  • Making Safeguarding Personal 

Kenny will explain how the NHS are supporting all staff and carers to keep up-to-date with reforms & best practice, including the effective use of social media. Finally Kenny will update on how the NHS will contract every NHS provider to gather safeguarding data and he will explain how this new Safeguarding data will be blended with Local Authority and Community Safety data, by April 2020.

Delivering a Strengths-based approach to Adult Safeguarding

Introducing the KcVets Practice Framework, launched by DHSC in February 2019, this presentation will explore how the practice framework can be utlised to strengthen professional practice in the area of adult safeguarding. By examining the philosophical underpinnings of strengths based approaches and the relationship between strengths based philosophy and professional practice, the presentation will outline how professionals can utlise the strengths based  practice framework within everyday safeguarding practice. 


Decision making, Choice and Autonomy in adult safeguarding
Pete Morgan,
Pete is a registered Social Worker and from 2008 to 2010 he was the Head of Service – Safeguarding Adults for Birmingham Adults and Community Services. He has chaired 2 Safeguarding Adults Boards, was a member of the DH’s Safeguarding Adults Stakeholders Group, and is the Chair of the Safeguarding Panel, Advance, a housing and support provider, an independent  facilitator of the CPS West Midlands Local Scrutiny and Involvement Panel – Hate Crime, a member of BASW’s Adult Policy, Practice and Education Group and Chair of the Board of Trustees of PASAUK. He has completed the MA in Safeguarding Adults: Law, Policy and Practice at the University of Keele. He has lectured on 3 Social Work courses and authored Safeguarding Adult and Domestic Homicide Reviews.
