Developing the role of the Physician Associate at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to be presented at National Conference

Patrick Thies American Physician Associate & PA-C of Orthopaedic Surgery and Jason George Physician Associate will be presenting on ‘Developing the role of the Physician Associate in Hospitals’ at the National Developing the Role of the Physician Associate conference on Wednesday 6 July 2016 at the Manchester Conference Centre in Manchester.

The Department of Health’s Competence and Curriculum Framework for the Physician Associate defines the physician associate as:…”a new healthcare professional who, while not a doctor, works to the medical model, with the attitudes, skills and knowledge base to deliver holistic care and treatment within the general medical and/or general practice team under defined levels of supervision.”

This timely one day conference focuses on developing the role of the Physician Associate in your service, how the demonstrated benefits of the role can support you and your service and improve patient care. The conference will also look at developing the role of the Physician Associate in practice and the development of the National Physician Associate Expansion Programme. Through national updates and practical case studies the conference will enable you to understand the role and the benefits and practical implications in practice for deployment in your service. Physician Associates were recently noted by the CQC as best practice in George Eliot Hospital where -there were physician associates who were trained to support medical staff with assessment, investigation and diagnosis.

Patrick Thies American Physician Associate & PA-C of Orthopaedic Surgery and Jason George Physician Associate will share their knowledge and experiences and will discuss a day in the life of a Physician Associate, developing the role: utilising Physician Associates in practice, how the role fits within the multi-disciplinary team, supporting Physician Associates: the Medical and Clinical Director’s role and the potential role of Physician Associate.
