The purpose of revalidation is to improve public protection ensuring nurses and midwives remain fit to practise throughout their careers.

More than 680,000 nurses and midwives are registered with the NMC – all are required to uphold the new Code of professional standards of practice and behaviours which becomes effective on 31 Mar 2015 and is available here

One Code, four themes, together they signify good nursing and midwifery practice – prioritise people, practise effectively, preserve safety and promote professionalism and trust to ensure public protection

The code and revalidation is for everyone’s protection

Revalidation strengthens professionalism through ongoing reflection on the Code

Positive impact on public protection: 680,000 nurses and midwives engaging with their professional standards and reflecting on their practice on an ongoing basis
