As a registered general and children’s nurse I am currently Head of Patient Experience for Maternity, Newborn, Children and Young People at NHS England. Key areas of my work include ensuring the NHS has mechanisms to capture and use insight from Children, Young People and families/carers so that they are active collaborators in their own care and have every opportunity to co-create and transform services to meet their needs and improve their experiences.

In 2008 I joined the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement where I led the National Children’s and Young People’s Emergency and Urgent Care programme, directly supporting health care systems to collaborate to ensure effective use of services.

Prior to that my background includes operating as an Assistant Director of Nursing at the Whittington NHS Trust and working as Lead Nurse in East and North Hertfordshire, managing acute and community children’s services, taking a key role in reconfiguration. I have also established educational programmes in London across five Trusts to support and retain newly qualified nurses and have worked as a Senior Lecturer at Middlesex University.

I was delighted to be a NHS Innovator of the Year 2012 Finalist, a Health Service Journal ‘Rising Star’ of 2013 and have also received the Patient Experience Network ‘Outstanding Contribution to Improving Patient Experience’ 2013 award.
