Monitoring and Improving Quality through Clinical Audit

Professor Pauline Ong, Member, National Advisory Group on Clinical Audit and Enquiries (NAGCAE), Emerita Professor of Health Services Research, Keele University discusses Monitoring and Improving Quality through Clinical Audit at today’s conference.

In her presentation Professor Pauline Ong discussed

Pauline said that change is what is important and that audit findings must be robust. It was advised that we need to look at the process of care as well as the outcome, Pauline felt that how you are dealt with is almost as important as the outcome which has led to an increased interest in patient experience. Pauline said we need to reaffirm the focus on personalised care and this is important for clinical audit. 

Professor Pauline Ong Biography:

Pauline BN Ong is Emerita Professor of Health Services Research, Keele University and a member of the National Advisory Group for Clinical Audit and Enquiries. She has been a Primary Care Trust Chair between 2002 and 2010, and currently chairs the End of Life Partnership and the Brightlife Partnership (which is part of the Ageing Better programme of the Big Lottery). Her academic research and publications are focused on chronic pain, living with multiple morbidity, primary care and patient and public involvement in research.
