Prof Martin Severs discusses Implementing the New Code of Practice on Confidential Information
Dr Martin Severs, Caldicott Guardian and Lead Clinician at the Health and Social Care Information Centre spoke today on implementing the new code of practice for confidential information which is due to be released by HSCIC later this month.
The code of practice describes good practice for any organisation that collects, analyses publishes or disseminates confidential information. HSCIC has a legal duety to publish this code.
The scope of the code covers information which:
-identifies any person or allows the identity of anyone to be discovered or is held under a duty of confidence
- and is concerned with the provision of health services or adult social care in England
The key practices through the seven stages of handling information were discussed and further information on this is available in the slides at the bottom of this page.
