Safe staffing for nursing in inpatient mental health settings work at Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust to be presented at National Conference
Dr Deborah Wildgoose Deputy Director of Nursing Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust will be presenting an extended session ‘EXTENDED SESSION: Improving Staffing and Skillmix in Mental Health Inpatient Units in practice’ at the National Safe Staffing for Nursing in Mental Health Inpatient Units on Monday 16 November 2015 at Hallam Conference Centre in London.
Deborah will share experinces and knowledge from Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust in an extended session on improving staffing and skillmix in mental health inpatient units in practice. Deborah will give practical steps to implementing the guidance on Safe Staffing Framework for Mental Health Wards and will discuss organisational factors affecting safe staffing for nursing at a ward level, nursing care activities that should be considered when determining safe staffing for nursing in inpatient mental health settings and the challenges and solutions.
Through national updates, and practical case studies this conference CPD conference will provide a clear background on ensuring safe and effective staffing levels and skill mix inpatient mental health setting - how to ensure the right people, with the right skills, are in the right place at the right time.
Sessions will focus on factors affecting safe staffing for nursing in inpatient mental health settings including understanding acuity and dependency, approaches and toolkits that help assess and determine safe staffing requirements for nursing in inpatient mental health, improving staffing and skillmix in practice, ensuring time to care with compassion and reviewing nursing staffing and skillmix in your service.
