New resources to support safer care of deteriorating patients

NHS Improvement have issued a Patient Safety Alert to highlight a range of resources on the early identification, response and management of deterioration in both adult and child patients.

Within these resources is a new safe system framework that NHS Improvements Patient Safety Team has launched in partnership with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, to tackle deterioration in children’s health. NHS Improvement have also published shared learning for providers to support the prevention of deterioration in adult patients and a list of resources for the detection and management of deterioration in adult patients from a number of organisations including the Royal College of Physicians and the UK Sepsis Trust.
