Twitter for Clinicians & Managers in the NHS

James Andrew @WePharmacists delivered an interactive masterclass on Twitter for Clinicians & Managers in the NHS.

This masterclass looked at developing twitter for clinicians and managers in the NHS, Understanding the twitter jargon, identifying influential people and organisations that should be followed in healthcare and understanding how to tweet, twitter rules and etiquette.

The session discussed using twitter for deliberative engagement; setting, maintaining and communicating a vision; engaging staff; consistently communicating with multiple stakeholders; networking with peers; and building a collaborative leadership style.

It also look at how to set up a twitter chat, communities, twitter for organisations, the role of lists and linking to other areas of social media

James Andrew' Biography:

James is a former community (retail) and PCT pharmacist currently working in both General Practice and community services.

The Guildowns Group Practice is a 23,000 patient, 4-site GP practice and employs James to manage all aspects of medicines related clinical activity and governance, from conducting patient medication reviews and auditing GP prescribing practices, through to supporting and coaching staff in achieving CQC regulatory requirements.  His current focus is on further enhancing the quality and safety of medicines use and prescribing in practice, and linking existing NHS and commercial providers to optimise patient use of medicines, particularly across interfaces.

James also works for Virgin Care, and has both national and regional remits in supporting and driving quality medicines management aspects of patient care, developing training and competency, enhancing clinical governance arrangements and supporting service redesign and innovation.

In addition, he is a previous national trainer for NICE, regularly delivers post-graduate training at near-by universities and is owner of Apt A.I.M consultancy, which specialises in supporting medicines management assurance for registered providers.
