Delivering a Paperless NHS by 2018: Progress and Update from NHS England
Dr Phil Koczan Digital Champion at NHS England spoke at today’s Electronic Document Management conference giving a national update on delivering a paperless NHS by 2018.
In his talk Dr Koczan outlines the plans to achieve a paperless NHS, highlighting the benefits and discussing the challenges.
He described the components that are being put in place to help make the vision a reality and the steps that are to be taken on the way.
He looked at how we can engage patents better with digital services, starting with access to their online records, and highlighted the ways that clinicians are engaging through the new Chief Clinical Information Officer roles.
Dr Koczan commented; "One of the challenges is that making records electronic and available, doesn't actually make it safer....It could and should improve safety but there is a definite risk associated"
