Healthcare Conferences UK in association with Christopher Fincken, Independent Member UK Caldicott Guardian Council, (Chairman 2012-2017) are pleased to announce this first National Conference which will focus on Information Sharing and Caldicott Principles in Mental Health Services. Following the success of our previous Caldicott Guardian National Conferences, and feedback from our regular Caldicott Training Masterclasses, this conference will focus on developing your role in improving communication and information sharing in mental health whilst complying with the Caldicott Principles and ensuring confidentiality for people using the services.

This conference will enable you to:

  • Network with fellow Clinicians, Caldicott Guardians and IG Leads working to ensure adherence to Caldicott principles in Mental Health services
  • Understand and reflect on decision making around information sharing
  • Reflect on a lived experience perspective, practical case studies of information sharing in mental health, and experiences of Caldicott Guardians 
  • Update your knowledge on legal issues and decision making principles
  • Understand how Mental Capacity impacts on decisions around information sharing 
  • Ensure frontline staff understand the Caldicott Principles and emerging Caldicott issues as a result of Covid-19
  • Explore your role in developing Multi Agency Information Sharing and GDPR Compliance across health, mental health and social care 
  • Understand when information can be shared with relatives, other professionals and services, and when it cannot
  • Reflect on disclosure to police with regard to safeguarding, criminal activity and missing persons 
  • Learn from established practice in the delivery of Caldicott Principles in Mental Health 
  • Understand the legal and ethical implications around information sharing, consent and the Duty of Candour
  • Ensure you understand the implications of information including the complexities of the ethical as well as legal considerations in how we handle data relating to vulnerable adults 
  • Self assess and reflect on your own practice
  • Gain CPD accreditation points contributing to professional development and revalidation evidence
