Gender Identity in the Workplace

This interactive workshop focuses on awareness of gender identity issues in the workplace, a fast developing area of employment law that is fraught with potential sensitivities and difficult balances to reach.

The programme will reflect on the Gender Recognition Act 2004 and gender reassignment under the Equality Act 2010, and cover protection for non-binary/gender-fluid individual, supporting trans, non-binary and gender fluid staff, balancing protected characteristics, and understanding gender critical beliefs.

Key Learning Objective

  • By the end of this workshop learners will have the confidence and ability to:

  • Better manage gender identity issues in the workplace

  • Expand their knowledge relating to this complex area of law

  • Appreciate key terms and legal obligations

  • Support trans and non-binary employees more effectively

  • Balance the rights of trans and non-binary staff with those who hold “gender critical” beliefs.

  • Use the right tools to be a proactive and inclusive employer
