Essentials for Healthcare Expert Witnesses in Civil Cases

A one-day course, led by an experienced healthcare lawyer, looking at the Civil ligation process in England and Wales that involve the expert witness including the duties of an expert, report writing and essentials in courtroom skills.

It is expected that that those offering expert witness services are trained in their role and duties and understand how to work as an expert witness. For example, the GMC’s Good Medical Practice “Understanding your Role as an Expert Witness” states that all doctors who act as an expert witness should consider undertaking training for this role and should make sure that they understand how to give oral evidence Delegates will have an opportunity to bring along a report (from a closed case) or another example of their written work for feedback. There will be case studies as well as mock cross-examination.
