This conference will update delegates on the recently Revised Competency framework for all prescribers launched on 7th September 2021 with an aim to be fully implemented by September 2022. The scope of the framework has been expanded, 12 new supporting statements have been included and new information sections added.
"A common set of competencies should underpin prescribing, regardless of professional background, to enable all prescribers to practise safely and effectively. It applies equally to independent prescribers, community practitioner nurse prescribers and supplementary prescribers.”
This conference focuses on demonstrating and improving nurse prescribing competence and practice and use of the National Competency Framework for all Prescribers, and will also update delegates on the Competency Framework for Designated Prescribing Practitioners. Through national updates, practical case studies and extended expert sessions, this conference focuses on demonstrating and improving prescribing competence and practice – embedding the competency framework, and the twelve competencies for all prescribers.
"From early 2019 regulatory changes will enable experienced independent prescribers to work as designated prescribing practitioners (DPPs) for the practice element of non-medical prescribing training. This is a role traditionally held only by medical prescribers (Designated Medical Practitioners). We welcome the move to use independent prescribers in this role. It is an opportunity to draw on the expertise of different prescribing professions in the development of future non-medical prescribers and improves access to prescribing opportunities for the wider workforce. Multidisciplinary training remains central, drawing on the expert skills of each profession to develop informed, proficient prescribers able to deliver high quality patient care. We are leading on the development of a competency framework for those taking on this role.”
