Healthcare Conferences UK’s 12th National Annual Caldicott Guardians Conference, sponsored by The UK Caldicott Guardian Council

Returning as an in-person event with a virtual attendance option, this conference brings together Caldicott Guardians from health, social care, and beyond. Building on the success of past Caldicott events and masterclasses, it offers a unique opportunity to explore current issues, understand the national context, and discuss key challenges faced in practice.

“This year’s conference is a great opportunity for Caldicott Guardians to learn, share best practice, and hear directly from me and other key speakers.””

Dr. Nicola Byrne, National Data Guardian

“We’ve created an engaging agenda for this year’s UKCGC annual conference to inform and benefit every Caldicott Guardian. Join us to explore key topics, gain practical insights, and connect with our vital community.”

Dr. George Fernie, Chair of the Caldicott Guardian Council

“We now have over 38,280 Caldicott Guardians in the UK.. It really is vital that we have transparency around the use of the people’s data, with meaningful engagement being key… As we explore new and innovative ways to use healthcare data, the role of the Caldicott Guardian is now more crucial than ever… Balancing an individual’s right to privacy with the wider benefits of using their data for care, planning and research remains a challenge that we don’t always get right. But as the NHS navigates this period of necessary transformation, we must seize the opportunity to use patient data wisely, unlocking its full potential to deliver better care. At the same time, transparency and public involvement in decision-making must remain at the heart of these decisions to maintain trust and accountability.”

Dr George Fernie, Chair UK Caldicott Guardian Council, February 2025
