Improving Quality Through the Effective Use of Clinical Audit
The Clinical Audit Leadership Summit 2025 is now in its 25th year and brings together clinicians, senior/middle managers and leading local and national clinical audit and improvement experts. Through a series of national updates, keynote presentations and interactive debates, this one-day virtual conference will focus on local and national clinical audit and celebrate best practice. Over the last two decades this event has become the ‘must-attend’ annual conference for clinical audit and QI professionals. With NHS England currently conducting a review of national clinical audits, plus plans for a new national clinical audit strategy in the pipeline, the event is perfectly timed to review the current and future role of clinical audit in delivering safe and high-quality care for patients and service users.
The conference this year will focus primarily on leadership in clinical audit and quality improvement. Skilled leadership in clinical audit is essential as all healthcare organisations need to demonstrate that their local clinical audit functions are robust, effective and fit-for-purpose. Moreover, local audit teams will need to demonstrate that they actively participate in relevant national clinical audit projects and demonstrate an appropriate response in relation to the resulting recommendations. The Care Quality Commission are increasingly accessing clinical audit data as part of their inspection regime and healthcare leaders need to understand the significant impact clinical audit plays in the delivery of the new Patient Safety Incident Response Framework. It is fair to say that while some senior leaders and board members view clinical audit as merely a quality assurance tool focused purely on data capture, savvy leaders are increasingly appreciating the value of clinical audit, not least the role it can play in helping save funds, solve problems and streamline local processes.
The conference features a wide range of clinical audit experts who will share their personal experiences and insights. Delegates will gain a full appreciation of the value of clinical audit, plus guidance on how to overcome inevitable challenges and pitfalls when leading audit projects, initiatives and programmes.
