This conference focuses on Improving Access, Treatment and Support for People with a Diagnosis of Personality Disorder both during and beyond Covid-19.
“A personality disorder can affect how you cope with life, manage relationships, how you behave, and how you feel - pretty much every aspect of your life. The picture for personality disorders is complex, but we often hear that care is patchy, and people only get help when they hit a crisis. There needs to be a package of support that is tailored to the individual, as we know that kind of care works and for some can mean the difference between life and death.”
“It is time for people with BPD to get the help they need. I run support groups for those with the condition, and their families and support workers. There is a serious lack of statutory help and the little there is, has been put on hold due to COVID-19. Now, with the lockdown and social distancing measures, these support groups have also been put on hold, leaving people alone with their difficulties... Isn’t it time to stop the stigma of BPD and introduce a little compassion?”
