Following consultation, a new fundamental standard on visiting and accompaniment is due to come into force in April 2024 and will be enforced by the CQC as part of their regulatory assessment and enforcement powers.

This new standard aims to ensure that people who use these services are able to:

  • receive visits from people that they want to see

  • be accompanied on appointments that do not require an overnight stay

Join us for this full-day conference to ensure that you understand what will be expected of you under these new regulations, so that you can put in place robust processes for decision making surrounding visits and accompaniment. Throughout the day our expert speakers will lead you in sessions covering; what constitutes an exceptional circumstance, implementing and evidencing robust decision making, facilitating social visits, complaints handling and visiting in end-of-life care. Through out the day, you will also hear directly from NHS Trusts about how they have taken a proactive approach to flexible visiting.

“Spending time with loved ones makes all the difference to the well-being of people in care homes and hospices. Of course, keeping people safe from infections is important, but this is about striking the right balance. We’re changing the law to recognise just how much visiting matters"
