Eating Disorders Awareness Week (EDAW) 2024

Eating Disorders Awareness Week offers a significant opportunity to increase awareness and understanding of a crucial issue that affects millions worldwide

This Eating Disorders Awareness Week, the spotlight is on Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).

There has been a sevenfold increase in calls to our Helpline for help with ARFID over the past five years. In 2018, our Helpline received 295 calls for support with ARFID, or 2% of total calls. By 2023, this figure had risen to 2054 calls, or 10% of its total calls for the year.

This conference focuses on Eating Disorders: improving access, treatment and recovery outcomes, and meeting the national standards for children, young people and adults. Eating Disorders & Disordered Eating in the Perinatal Period: Supporting Women with Eating Disorders and Pregnancy

This conference will update delegates on the important issue of Eating Disorders & Disordered Eating in the Perinatal Period, and how we can better Support Women with Eating Disorders and Pregnancy. The event will focus on learning from lived experience, understanding why pregnancy can be triggers for eating disorders and exploring how we can better identify women with first episode eating disorders or disordered eating during pregnancy. 

 

 

 

Improving Access, Treatment and Recovery Outcomes for Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

This conference will serve as a vital platform for bringing together experts, researchers, clinicians and advocates to foster a deeper understanding of Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). We will learn from child and adolescent services, eating disorder services and experts in the field to develop a consensus on best practice.
