Jackie Nicholson's full presentation is available for download at the end of this page

In her presentation Jackie Nicholson Stated:

"In my trust we place probably around 850 PICC lines a year."

"Some people have just got invisible veins and no matter how hard you look you can't find those veins."

"You'll be aware that over the last few years there have been lots of strategies to tackle catheter related blood stream infections (CRBSI). This all came from the John Hopkins in Michigan in the U.S. Where hospitals said they were no longer going to pay for hospital acquired infections and a lot of effort was put into finding new strategies to tackle CRBSIs."

"There's a new research focus on peripheral cannulation."

"Really I just want to say this is an exciting time for vascular access and in therapy. It may be that you feel sometimes like you are working alone in your area, but if we can work together and share our experiences we can make a real difference for our patients."
