NHS Improvement NEWS: Learning from deaths: share your policies and resources

Following guidance on learning from deaths published by the National Quality Board in March, all providers are required to produce a policy outlining how you'll support improvement by learning from deaths that occur in your care.

NHS Improvement have published a set of resources to help you meet this requirement – they suggest ways to standardise and improve how you identify, report, investigate and learn from death.

Medical directors and directors of nursing, please:

  • make colleagues aware of these resources
  • send your resources and/or policies that support improved learning from death to patientsafety.enquiries@nhs.net so NHS Improvement can share them with the NHS
