"The prevention of infection is fundamental to the safety and quality of care delivered to patients and remains a key priority for the NHS. As the epidemiology of many HCAI cases becomes more complex and as the threat of antimicrobial resistance increases, it is essential that we build on the progress made to date and work to identify new ways to improve practice." Dr Mike Durkin, Director of Patient Safety, NHS England
